Full-Time Research Engineer (Chemist) on Colloidal Quantum Dot Nanoparticles
Research Engineer (Chemist) on Colloidal Quantum Dot Nanoparticles
The Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials group at ICFO, is looking for a highly motivated dynamic and hard-working synthetic chemist to develop and perform synthesis of colloidal semiconductor, metallic and hybrid nanocrystals and quantum dots.
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary group of chemists, physicists and engineers, led by Gerasimos Konstantatos, whose mission is to develop novel nanomaterials for renewable energy applications and optoelectronics with focus on low cost high efficiency quantum dot solar cells and high sensitivity photodetectors.
The successful candidate will perform syntheses of colloidal quantum dots, metal nanoparticles and advanced nanoheterostructured nanocrystals to be employed by other scientists in the group for development of solar cells and photodetectors.
Part of the tasks will involve regular synthesis of standard QD materials already developed at ICFO, thus the candidate should have very high organization and attention-to-detail skills for high reproducibility material production. At the same time he/she will also seek to optimize the properties of QDs based on feedback received by other group members, thus should also be creative and positive in taking new challenges.
REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS
The candidate will be involved in a number of projects running in our group and will be collaborating with the whole team. Therefore, the candidate is expected to have excellent communication and organization skills and strong team spirit.
At a technical level, the candidate should have strong background on inorganic chemistry and material science and demonstrated expertise in the use of high vacuum techniques (Schlenk Line) for colloidal (wet) chemistry. Prior expertise in organometallic synthesis of colloidal quantum dots and metal nanoparticles is considered a plus.
The candidate should have a B.A.Sc. and M.Sc. in material science or chemistry and at least 3 years of working experience in a chemistry lab or a Ph.D. in a related field as described above.
Although English is the working language at ICFO, knowledge of Spanish or Catalan is considered a plus.
The position is initially for one year with possibility for further extension, however the contract is renewable on an annual basis provided satisfactory performance.
How to ApplySuitable candidates are requested to submit online via http://jobs.icfo.eu:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest;
- Curriculum Vitae, including full address, a contact phone number and e-mail address;
- The contact e-mail of two potential referees.
