Internship Policy Internship
As a Policy Intern with a focus on the German market, you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of work as part of a growing startup. With a keen eye for detail, bags of energy, and a can-do attitude, you’ll enjoy juggling multiple tasks. You’ll have native level German, a strong knowledge of the German political system, and read about current affairs in your spare time. You are fascinated by the link between German national politics and the EU.
We’re expanding rapidly so we’ll expect you to take on responsibility quickly and you’ll have the opportunity to carve your own niche within our business.
What you’ll do
You’ll learn how to monitor and analyse EU policy and German policy on a daily basis to keep our clients informed of legislative developments as they happen. You’ll use your policy knowledge to help create our popular daily and weekly e-mails, as well as being active on our social media channels. We’ll also train you to write concise summaries of policy debates. Native level English is therefore highly desirable.
Skills you’ll demonstrate
We’re looking for client-focussed team players and you’ll need to remain calm under pressure. In practice, this means you enjoy helping people and will be excited by the idea of learning fast on your feet and taking on responsibility quickly. You’ll naturally look for solutions rather than problems.
You’ll have an analytical mind and enjoy ‘joining up the dots’ between policy areas. A positive attitude at this stage of your career is more important than experience, although we would expect you to demonstrate an understanding of the German and EU legislative process and have a passion for policy that goes beyond your studies. You’ll enjoy being part of a small team and be sociable.
Leadership will be second-nature to you in any setting you are faced with. You won’t be phased by senior level decision makers and you’ll be able to demonstrate independence through your previous paid work experience (part-time is fine – our Co-Founders have worked in shops, supermarkets, bowling alleys and call centres).
You’ll possess a Masters but everyone does these days, right? Your attitude and extra-curricular activity will be just as important. We’re looking for well-rounded people.
