Job Description

Operations and Site Director

The objective of this function is to provide leadership, direction and coordination for all kind of questions & activities which apply to the site and to ensure that all activities are compliant with established policies & procedures.

The aim is to make the local organization stronger in the execution of local matters by working cross-departmental.

The Operations and Site Director will:

  • Direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, quality, warehouse, EHS, Lean, purchasing and other production related activities;
  • Effectively develop the location in accordance with the company strategy by managing resources, departments and quality. Aligning plant departments with corporate strategy to reach optimal results & customer satisfaction;
  • Prepare the organization for ongoing change and constantly improving processes, tools and working approach;
  • Accountable for delivering POR Sales & Ex245 Inventory targets;
  • Accountable for delivering Ex120 Cost reduction savings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead plant activities through planning with departmental managers to insure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner and fully meeting, customer requests;
  • Implement and manage cost effective systems for control of process improvements, capital and operating expenditures, manpower levels, scheduling and shipping;
  • Establish and monitor measurements for overall plant performance for quality, delivery and cost;
  • Effective and efficient use of Lean Manufacturing and associated tools in all areas of the Organization;
  • Provide leadership and training on lean tools to accomplish company goals and objectives;
  • Communicate frequently and effectively to associates throughout the organization. Establish and maintain effective communication vehicles such as toolbox meetings, employee meetings, roundtables discussions, and one-on-one meetings;
  • Develops innovative initiatives to enhance internal efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Provides advice, guidance and leads managers in their professional development;
  • Elaborate & implement cost reduction initiatives;
  • Develop & execute Inventory improvement action plan;
  • Represents the Company and ASCO Management towards external parties (e.g. agencies, community, works council, external authorities);
  • Facilitates and leads regular local Management Team meetings (group of local leaders of all local departments) and secures local interests and alignment to ASCO defined strategy and Corporate Directions for the best of the business;
  • Breaks down silos, improve workflows & relationships. Influences to overcome conflicts to achieve group goals;
  • Demonstrates local leadership and actively drives for change and improvement on site together, with the local Management Team to push the important questions forward and to promote teamwork;
  • Identifies questions and challenges put forward by local managers/employees and ensures we act as one ASCO within the site;
  • Brings topics to a decision– adhering the matrix organization and the autonomy of the departments for business decisions and strategy;
  • Link between departments for all site related matters to ensure alignment and decision making;
  • Drives and ensures active local communication for organizational and site specific subjects and to facilitate optimization of performance of the site;
  • Facilitate/leads the organization of regular employee town hall meeting events;
  • Ensures that external and internal policies & procedures are implemented and applied on the site: Compliance, H&S, appraisal, Ethics Corp. Governance, ITC, opinion surveys, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering;
  • Good financial understanding;
  • Very strong language skills in English, both verbal and in writing;
  • Required experience includes track record of min. 5 years of manufacturing management experience in engineered products (machining, assembly, planning and logistics);
  • Previous background in Lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, and Quality required;
  • Experience in managing and driving manufacturing improvements and projects (lean philosophy);
  • Customer focused attitude;
  • Excellent Leadership/People management skills;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate on all levels within the organization;
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrating sound judgement and decision making;
  • Drives result and takes initiatives to achieve goals;
  • Pragmatic approach with a “doer” mentality;
  • Good relationship builder with ability to merge different groups of people, processes and tools;
  • Team player who has qualities both up and down the line to motivate and to drive people to work as a time;
  • Ability to make unpopular decisions that will better the organization;
  • Leader of one local department on site;
  • Change agent with focus and drive for continuous improvement;
  • Good communicator, decisive, pragmatic and diplomatic approach;
  • Extravert to identify, address and solve difficult situations;
  • Ambassador of ASCO/Emerson strategy and company culture;
  • Proficient with local culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to frequent business trips in the country and abroad;
  • Fluent polish in writing and speaking;
  • A letter of reference from one of the previous employers (will be an advantage).
