Noise-Vibration-Harshness Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose

The Noise-Vibration-Harshness Engineer is responsible of the acquisition and post-processing of all the HF data and of the operating activities relevant to components dynamic test. He/she will be the focal point of the assigned activity from the definition phase of the test through the whole process to data post-processing and reporting. He/she will interface with Test Engineer, Test leader/Controlled Title Holders and Customer.

Essential Responsibilities

Activities for dynamic data acquisition/ post-processing:

For every test the NVH engineer perform the acquisition and post-processing of the dynamic data, working with the Test engineer, Test Leader/CTHs and the rest of the team in the following activities:

  • Concurrence and review of the test request / test plan
  • Definition of dynamic acquisition architecture
  • Verify and guarantee the availability of all the H/W & S/W necessary for executing the acquisition
  • Participation to rig commissioning and sensor response simulation
  • Test data post-processing and validation
  • Issuing of test reports and management of test database

Activities for dynamic test:

The NVH engineer is the Test engineer for the dynamic test (Holography, modal analysis, vibration test, etc). In this role, beside the data acquisition / postprocessing, he/she has to perform the following activities:

  • Agree test rig and instrumentation with test leader/CTH
  • Lead the rig and test article assembly / disassembly
  • Carry out test in respect with scheduling and cost
  • Results validation and agreement with Test Leader/CTH and Customer

Guarantee quality of test activities

He/she will have to perform the activities following the rationalization and standardization of test methods reported in the test procedures, with the intention of improving efficiency and effectiveness. He/she will be in charge of:

  • Validation of HF test data elaboration process
  • Develop methodologies of dynamic response simulation
  • Managing the HF test data with the standard tools provided
  • Develop and check new HF S/W tools to best fit mechanical dynamic data environment.
  • Collaboration with Test Leader/ CTH for Test Practice issuing


  • Bachelor degree in Aeronautics or Mechanical Engineering
  • Fluent in English
  • Proven experience in an engineering role
  • Knowledge of mechanical components design and familiarity with mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge on structural analysis
  • Some background in dynamic mechanical testing
  • Some background in HF measurement and acquisition systems
  • EU work permit is needed

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Some background in high frequency data management, vibration analysis, rotating machinery diagnostic -prognostic, experimental modal analysis
  • Ability to work in cross functional and multicultural teams
  • Collaboration with University on Mechanicals Dynamic / Signal Processing / Vibrations / Experimental Dynamics
  • PC proficiency
  • Availability for three shifts work
