Role summary

The role will require excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to write for different channels, as well as attention to detail, flexibility, adaptability, and an ability to work autonomously. The candidate should be able to manage his/her own time, be a quick learner, organized and professional, with a good understanding of and an active interest in the media, news, and current affairs.

The Marketing Communications Specialist is a new role within the Marketing and Communications Team, responsible for:

  • Working closely with Marketing and Communications Team heads in order to develop an annual marketing plan in conjunction with the regional sales teams – creating and implementing plans to increase market share;
  • Developing a proactive approach to marketing communications – identifying new initiatives and/or opportunities to support the growth in new business;
  • Developing and writing engaging content for new initiatives and campaigns; for product launches; and the placement of corporate and tactical in-country messages;
  • Developing compelling news and opinion-driven content and creative messaging to support building the brand and growing new business – you will engage audiences through compelling content: stories, opinion, news and views via print, online media and through digital channels;
  • Being a steward of the company’s reputation and brand;
  • Being a trusted adviser on marketing communications activity.

Role description

  • Work in close collaboration with Marketing Team heads to contribute developing and maintaining a clear understanding of Lombard International Assurance’s value propositions covering marketing communications, market environment and competitive landscape;
  • From this, develop and execute the tactical marketing communications plan to support the development of the business and grow the brand across Europe;
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to identify monthly themes to support positioning Lombard International Assurance as a thought leader with key partners/clients;
  • Recommend effective channels (e.g. PR, newsletters, digital, advertising etc) and agree clear accountabilities and process/timing for delivery with obtaining necessary consent and providing final approval on all marketing collateral, products and promotions;
  • Build and manage effective relationships with Marketing Team heads and in-country sales teams to integrate communication planning and reporting for marketing communications;
  • Work with all members of the Marketing & Communications team to establish a ‘best practice’ approach for cross-sharing all markets’ activity – encouraging collaboration and idea sharing;
  • Ensure markets are working in line with the brand positioning and are adhering at all times to corporate identity guidelines;
  • Establish regular reporting on planned activity and outputs i.e. deliverables and oversee/manage relationship with suppliers and other internal stakeholders, tracking and coordinating the delivery of activity;
  • Be instrumental in developing engaging content for the external website and intranet;
  • Work with the department heads to ensure alignment of market campaigns with corporate communication plan and messaging and produce country market campaigns;
  • Develop ROI processes with the marketing and communications team and use this to assess effectiveness of all marketing and communications initiatives leveraging information in the new CRM system;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams – from creative, Digital and production to product marketing and legal – to produce effective promotional materials;
  • Coordinating with and managing agency partners, where necessary;
  • Creating marketing presentations for stakeholders.

Required qualifications and competencies

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field;
  • At least 5 years’ industry experience in a similar role within the financial services industry – wealth management, private banking or insurance would be very beneficial;
  • Proven skills, knowledge and experience in the design, coordinate and execution of marketing and PR campaigns;
  • Experienced in working in media and corporate reputation;
  • Experience in working with cross functional teams with the ability manage teams remotely, to influence and take initiative;
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage budget within defined limits;
  • A team player with a creative and solutions-oriented mindset to problem-solving;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – fluent English and French speaker – other European languages would be an asset;
  • The ability to work in a high pressure environment and to deadlines;
  • High IT literacy;
  • Highly experienced in working in media and corporate reputation;
  • Experience in managing b2b Financial Services media campaigns;
  • Experience in social media, including LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube;
  • Proven copywriting expertise;
  • Sound decision maker and negotiator;
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of Salesforce would be advantageous.
