IP DSLAM SW Design Engineer

Job Field Area: Software Development

General Purpose

  • To contribute to the development of real time embedded software for our existing and new to be developed hardware platforms;
  • To bring our product innovations and evolutions to the market faster and at higher quality than the competition as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team of senior experts and supported by state-of-the-art development and test technologies, tools and processes.

Main Responsibility Area

  • Clarifies customer requirements;
  • Contributes to feature estimation and planning;
  • Designs SW architecture (i.e. definition of modules, classes, interfaces, task priorities, concurrent access,…);
  • Designs generic SW running on different processor architectures: single/multiple core, Arm, MIPS, PPC;
  • Is accountable for the long term quality of the software delivered;
  • Helps others in meeting the team objectives;
  • Interacts with project managers to give regular updates of identified issues.

Position Description

  • Responsible to write C/C++ code, make files, scripts,…;
  • Responsible to remove memory leaks by using commercial tools;
  • Responsible to write test cases that validate your written code, and automate them;
  • Estimation and measurement of the consumed CPU cycles and on board memory;
  • Troubleshoot software on target hardware and in a simulation environment;

Position Requirements

  • Engineering degree or a degree in Computer Science/Telecommunications/Electronic (or you are obtaining it this year) or have up to 5 years of experience;
  • Broad interest in the Telecom sector;
  • Knowledge of real-time operating system concepts (interrupts, tasks, concurrency, …);
  • Knowledge of written C or C++ programs;
  • Genuine interest in new technologies and read/implement internet RFC’s;
  • Ability to work fluently with Unix/Linux (as operating system);
  • Basic knowledge of IP, ADSL, VDSL2, G.Fast or GPON technologies;
  • While growing in the role, get an in-depth understanding of new telecommunications protocols and/or Nokia’s hardware platforms, and the way customers are deploying them;
  • Ability to draw and explain/document your design in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Believe in KISS principle;
  • Eagerness and agility to learn fast and be challenged on a daily basis;
  • Happy when handling complex systems and projects;
  • Keen on working in a multicultural environment;
  • Having no problems with taking up responsibilities;
  • Creativity and high efficiency;
  • Application of creative solutions to complex technical problems and think “out-of-the-box”;
  • Teamwork but also ability to work independently;
  • Fluent English spoken and written.
