As a Policy Intern with a focus on EU policy, you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of work as part of a growing business. With a keen eye for detail, bags of energy, and a can-do attitude, you’ll enjoy juggling multiple tasks. You’ll have native-level English and a strong knowledge of the EU political system.
What you’ll do
You’ll learn how to monitor and analyse EU policy on a daily basis to keep our clients informed of legislative developments as they happen. You’ll use your policy knowledge to help create our popular daily and weekly e-mails, as well as being active on our social media channels. We’ll also train you to write concise summaries of policy debates. Full professional proficiency in English is therefore a must.
Skills you’ll demonstrate
We’re looking for policy and client-focussed team players and you’ll need to remain calm under pressure. In practice, this means you enjoy helping people and will be excited by the idea of learning fast on your feet and taking on responsibility quickly. You’ll naturally look for solutions rather than problems.
You’ll have an analytical mind and enjoy ‘joining up the dots’ between policy areas. A positive attitude at this stage of your career is more important than experience, although we would expect you to demonstrate an understanding of the EU legislative process and have a passion for policy that goes beyond your studies. You’ll enjoy being part of a small team and be sociable.
You’ll be able to demonstrate independence through your previous paid work experience (part-time is fine – our Co-Founders have worked in shops, supermarkets, bowling alleys, and call centres).
You’ll possess a Masters but everyone does these days, right? Your attitude and extra-curricular activity will be just as important. We’re looking for well-rounded people.
