Job Description

Group Manager Digital Design


  • Implementation of digital circuits incl. specification, VHDL implementation and verification in all Continental IC design centers;
  • Responsibility for technical, commercial and quality requirements of the project;
  • Monitoring, coaching and optimizing the digital design development process and methodology;
  • Supporting the acquisition of new projects and participating in the strategy definition;
  • Setup the project plan incl. all relevant documents (project time schedule, development cost, team, risks, etc.);
  • Define, assign and track work­packages for digital design team;
  • Estimate die size and cost of digital IC implementation together with digital designers;
  • Actively support system and/or IC concept and architecture definition;
  • Decide on optimal IC design concept together with other discipline’s developers;
  • Evaluate technical and development risks (analysis, mitigation plan, escalation, etc.) together with IC developer;
  • Regularly track actual design progress vs. project time schedule and report discrepancies to customer;
  • Regularly track actual die size/gate count vs. estimated die size/gate count and report discrepancies to customer;
  • Execute all milestone reviews together with the development team and report the result to the customer;
  • Regularly review the verification document (validation plan) together with the IC developers;
  • Apply consequent configuration and change management;
  • Apply quality assurance management (use of lessons­learned, peer reviews, risk assessment, etc.);
  • Active cooperation towards process, methods and tool chain continuous improvement;
  • Identify and implement improvement of digital IC development processes and methodology.


  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable disciplines;
  • Several years of experience in automotive product development;
  • Experience in Digital design development processes and methods for ASIC and FPGA;
  • Experience with test bench design and verification/simulation methodologies (functional, code coverage, timing analysis, constraint­random, etc.);
  • Experience with synthesis tools, good understanding of the physical design flow is a plus;
  • Very good German and English language skills (written and spoken);
  • Initiative and goal-orientation;
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, communication skills and customer orientation;
  • Motivated and dynamic way of work.
