European Aluminium is looking for a highly motivated candidate with strong written and oral skills to support its Building department and its Mobility department. The position is a full-time contract.
Develop further the sustainability activities for aluminium used in building and mobility in line with European Aluminium Sustainability roadmap. During the first 1-2 years, the main tasks will be the coordination of internal projects with member companies, to be extended afterwards to sustainability advocacy towards external stakeholders.
For the building sector, work will focus on aluminium framing systems used for doors, windows and curtain walls, as well as flat aluminium products used for cladding and roofing applications. For the mobility sector, focus will be on aluminium applications in cars, trucks, trailers and buses.
Coordination of internal projects:
- Maintain the overview of all building sustainability schemes and mobility-related life cycle assessments in Europe
- Identify opportunities and threats
- Further develop and implement recycling action plans
- Coordinate sustainability-related projects
- Develop dynamic communication with experts from member companies
- Further develop and use European Aluminium life cycle assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) tools
- Promote aluminium recyclability credentials in standards and legislations
- Collaborate with other stakeholders at EU level: European Commission, Metals for Buildings, Construction Products Europe, Transport & Environment, ACEA, etc.
The Sustainability Manager Building & Mobility shall report about the above activities to the Director Engineered Products and will work in the team with the Consultant Innovation and LCA, the Senior Manager Mobility and the Manager Building & Standardisation.
The candidate needs to have an engineering or environmental science degree, good communication skills in English, both oral and written. The knowledge of additional languages would be an asset, particularly German or Dutch.
The candidate should be a team player, able to work in a multi-stakeholder environment, be eager to learn and be ready to travel throughout Europe.
The European Aluminium office is based in Brussels.
