The Sustainable Energy Policy team leads on Ofgem’s approach to environmental and long-term sustainability issues. This includes incorporating environmental issues into major Ofgem projects such as price controls, liasing with Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on emerging government policy, occasional discussion papers to lead new thinking and stakeholder engagement.



You will lead the input of economic analysis to the team’s work. In particular, you will have a lead role in ensuring that the team is fully engaged with key Ofgem projects and has a complete understanding of the modelling and economic analysis. You will ensure that environmental and sustainable development issues are embedded in the economic analysis. You will also lead on contributing economic analysis to the team’s “thought leadership” work and analysing Government policy where appropriate.



Key Requirements:
•degree in a relevant field, preferably economics, or equivalent qualification/expertise
•proven knowledge of sustainable development or environmental issues, preferably with experience of the energy sector and/or public or regulatory policy
•demonstrable expertise in quantitative and qualitative policy analysis, preferably with a focus on environmental economics and experience of regulatory economics
•experience of developing and analysing policy options in complex contexts, such as developing new approaches based on available evidence and understanding interactions with wider policy.
•excellent communication skills, including an ability to draft complex documents and good presentation skills
•excellent stakeholder engagement with experience of managing and working with diverse sets of stakeholders
•proven experience of working across organisations and influencing project outcomes
•Experience of leading workstreams, including developing and agreeing direction and driving delivery to timescales required
