As part of our continuing commitment to providing an excellent student experience centred on inspirational learning and teaching and building on the success of our Head of First Year post, the Economics Division seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to this post which is key to our vision of developing outstanding graduates and scholars.

Working within a Heads of Year team you will be responsible for the management and development of the student experience and will also be a personal tutor to Economics students. Although you will be a member of the Economics Division you will also work closely with our Undergraduate Office to ensure an excellent student experience. The post is new to the Economics Division but part of your role will be managing the transition from the first to the second and third years of university life. In particular, you will support students’ development of the independent learning skills required in the upper levels of their degree. A major theme within your work will be employability which will include supervising work placements (which take place between years 2 and 3) and developing initiatives to support employability.

You will have a strong grounding in Economics and be able to demonstrate excellent research-led teaching in this field. You will be able to teach Economics students in a variety of settings, including lectures, workshops and small group tutorials and will contribute to the development and assessment of modules. In addition you should demonstrate effective communication and organisational skills, an ability to work as a member of a team and a commitment to providing an excellent student experience for undergraduate students. You will be encouraged to participate fully in the intellectual and social life of both the Economics division and the Faculty.

LUBS is a leading international business school and a strong research-led Faculty of the University of Leeds. It holds a ‘5’ rating for international excellence in research, and accreditation from EQUIS and AMBA.
